In food and beverages, Glycerine (E422) serves as a humectant, solvent, and sweetener, and may help preserve foods. In medical, pharmaceutical and personal care preparations, often provides a means of improving smoothness, providing lubrication, and as a humectant. Also used in the production of a variety of chemical derivatives and intermediates.
